How to Choose a Party Theme
Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE LOVE LOVE themed parties. I find them fun and a great way to showcase my creativity. I enjoy coming up with ideas for every party, from the décor to even the menu, based on the theme I have picked for that particular party. (The mention of companies are my recommendations only. In no way am I promoting them).
With Halloween around the corner, what better time than now to plan for a themed party?
Here are five simple steps to plan your themed party!
1. Decide on the occasion
Are you throwing a birthday party? Is it a holiday based party? Are you simply having a get together and want to make it fun because it’s Taco Tuesday?
2. Choose a theme
If you are hosting a party for someone else, for example, your child, a family member, or even a friend, ensure the theme reflects the person’s interest and personality. For instance, if your child loves animals, then you could do an animal circus-themed party or a zoo party. (the options are endless)
3. Will the party be Neutral, Gender-based, or Based on Age?
Milestone birthdays are significant for themed parties! You can do anything from color-based themes to movie themes. You could even do a particular era, such as the 70s.
4. Select your Decoration
For this, you can DIY or hire an event planner. If you want to do it yourself, Dollar Tree, Amazon, Target, and even Michaels are great options!
5. Select the Menu
You can even base your theme on your menu. For example, if you are having a barbecue, that can be the theme of your party. Another way is to select a menu that goes with the theme. You are having a Barbie-themed party; you could serve finger foods such as sandwiches and mini pastries, arrange a dessert table, serve tea, or set up an Ice Cream Float bar.
There is an additional step you can take which is completely optional: you can ask your guests to dress up according to the theme. If you are having a 70s themed party then your guests can dress up in 70s costumes.
Now, you can plan your own themed party! I would love to hear about your next themed party!
I hope this blog helps you plan a spooktacular themed party.
Until next time!
